Kinesiology FAQs

What is Kinesiology?

Kinesiology broadly is the study of human body movement, function and performance. It applies the sciences of anatomy, biomechanics, physiology, psychology and neuroscience to understand the body’s movement.

Kinesiology, drawing on Eastern Wisdom and Western Techniques, recognises the human body as a complete energy system, comprising of our physical, emotional, mental and spiritual health.

Applications of Kinesiology in human health and wellbeing services, include in Sports Psychology, Physiotherapy, Exercise Physiology, Rehabilitation, Physical and Occupational Therapy, Health & Safety, Orthopedics, Chiropractic, Physical Education, sports and exercise.

How Does Kinesiology Work?

My Kinesiology balance sessions are non-invasive, gentle treatments that improve health holistically. As an alternative medicine technique it uses muscle response testing in order to determine imbalances or blocks, and choose appropriate treatments.

Muscle monitoring techniques connect me as the practitioner to your subconscious mind through the nervous system, meridians, chakras and all other parts of the body. In asking questions of the body, I can talk to the subconscious mind to find where the imbalances and blocks are and how the body needs these released to restore the energy flow.

What is Kinesiology Good For?

Kinesiology helps relieve human ailments such as anxiety, depression, physical pain and many other ailments. They include learning difficulties, speech & language difficulties, performance anxiety in work/school/exams/sport, low vitality & confidence, muscle and joint pain, muscular disorders, stress, headaches, bedwetting, allergies, digestive difficulties, PMS, self esteem, asthma, addictions, nervous disorders, nutritional imbalances, and weight gain.

These ailments all leave you living short of your highest potential.

My Kinesiology balance sessions, drawing on Eastern Wisdom and Western Techniques, are non-invasive, gentle treatments that improve these health ailments holistically.

Is Kinesiology Able to Reduce Pre-Existing Pain & Discomfort?

Yes. When pain is continuous and debilitating it’s a sign of long term stress on the human body. Muscles have moved into compensation mode, many have switched off and won’t be functioning while others will be working too hard.

Kinesiology can help switch on the muscles that aren’t working and stop the compensatory cycle of stress occurring in your body. An exercise program can then help you to build up physical strength and movement.

Does Kinesiology Help with Learning Difficulties?

Yes. Through Kinesiology and Brain Integration work, you can help yourself or your child achieve the highest potential as an active learner in life and at school.

I am trained in and use Learning Enhancement Acupressure Program (LEAP) which is a comprehensive approach to assess and help with most learning challenges including dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and many difficulties with reading, spelling and mathematics.

It was developed by Dr Charles T. Kreb in collaboration with clinical psychologists, speech pathologists, neurologist and other health professionals.

LEAP addresses brain function imbalances by re-establishing and maintaining the precise synchrony of the brain. It provides individual’s with access to their full potential and ability.

Does Kinesiology Help with Sporting Pursuits?

Yes. The brain and body connection is an extremely important part of improving performance in any physical pursuit.

Kinesiology balance sessions can help to correct brain imbalances and activate muscles, to provide a physical movement and mental edge on your competitors. The small details in movement can make a large difference for a sports person in achieving their goals, in any sporting endeavour.

Through Brain Integration, we can work to remove any old mental patterns of self sabotage, fear, doubt etc which can stop the body functioning at peak performance.

Does Kinesiology Help with Hormones and Auto-Immune Imbalances?

Yes. Kinesiology balance sessions can help to lessen symptoms, correct and restore hormone balance, and support the associated organs until a higher level of health is attained.

Hormonal imbalances can cause symptoms like bloating, irritability, hair loss, heart palpitations, hot flushes, mood swings, migraines, heavy or no periods, blood sugar imbalances, trouble concentrating, unexplainable pain, fatigue, sleep issues, and much more.

Menopause is a period of natural hormone fluctuations for women, and many of the symptoms above are present then too.

Undetected and untreated over a longer period, hormonal imbalances can show up as entrenched issues such as Hypothyroid, Hyperthyroid, Adrenal Fatigue, Infertility, PMS/PMT, and Ovarian issues, and these all affect the immune system.

Kinesiology can help in all cases.

Does Kinesiology Help with Digestive Health Issues?

Yes. Kinesiology can help strengthen all areas of the digestive system. This has a ripple affect on behaviour, mood, energy levels, pain relief, learning and much more.

Digestive health issues include candida overgrowth, viruses, bacteria, parasites, toxicity, food sensitivities and allergies, leaky gut, IBS and Crohns disease to name a few. These issues prevent adsorption of nutrients that are essential for the body and brain to function optimally.

These digestive health issues show up in organs such as the oesophagus, stomach, small and large intestines, gall bladder, and liver.

Kinesiology can provide relief and help strengthen the body in all cases.

How do I Prepare for a Kinesiology Balance Session?

Here’s some info that will help you to prepare.

Before

  • If it’s your first time, give some thought to providing me with some background details and the desired outcomes you’re looking for

  • Be well hydrated

On Day of Kinesiology Session

  • Be ready 5 minutes prior to scheduled session time

  • Wear comfortable clothing to sit or lie in

  • First, we’ll work together to establish the session’s priority issues/concerns, and goals

  • Allow time after your 1-hour session to assimilate the new information you’ll receive, before heading back in to your normal life routine

What Happens in a Kinesiology Balance Session?

In a Kinesiology balance session, you work with me in person or virtually.

In face-to-face consultations, you lie on your back fully-clothed on a massage table. I’ll establish your priority issues, concerns and goals with you. Then I’ll hold your wrist and use muscle monitoring techniques to determine your body’s imbalances or blocks. I may also select from a range of other gentle and non-invasive techniques that can be used to unblock and restore your body’s natural balance and energy flow.

In virtual consultations, we have a two-way conversation over Zoom, Skype, Whats-App, Messenger, a phone call or email. You require a space to sit or lie at your end, to be able to connect with me and relax for the duration of the appointment time. Priority issues, concerns and goals are established. Virtual work can often have a strong effect, and you’ll receive clarity and insights.

For email appointments, email me your concerns and on completion of the appointment I’ll email you highlights from the appointment and things that were worked on for you.

What Will I Feel Like After A Kinesiology Session?

Some clients experience immediate relief from symptoms. They’ll leave physically stronger and lighter with a balanced flow of energy moving through the body.

Others notice the symptoms they present with, gradually improve over time.

Regardless of how you present in each Kinesiology session, we work together to stop recreation of the same situation and symptoms over and over again.

What Other Techniques Are Used in a Kinesiology Balance Session?

There are a range of other gentle and non-invasive techniques used to unblock and restore your body’s natural balance and energy flow.

Essential Oils

The sense of smell influences many physiological pathways.

Essential Oils are aromatic compounds found in parts of plants such as seeds, bark, stems, roots and flowers. They’re both beautiful and powerful fragrances that can be diffused, applied to the body externally or taken internally to help support or shift an emotional or physical condition.

I use DoTerra Essential Oils during my Kinesiology balance sessions. Small bottles of the oils I use can be purchased through me. I can also make up individual remedies, if required.

Flower Essences

Flower Essences are plant-based preparations that come in a tincture, capsule or tea form. Said to raise our energy vibrations and bring forth positive qualities from deep within us.

I use them to address emotional states and imbalances, and to release a negative emotional pattern and create a new positive one.

They help consolidate the work done in a Kinesiology balance, to provide longer lasting results and support a client when they return home.

I use Flower Essences in a tincture liquid form during my Kinesiology balance sessions.

Accupressure

Accupressure has roots in the 3,500+ year old Chinese medicine practice. Acupressure points lie along Meridien channels in the human body. The points are used to help restore health and balance to the body’s energy field and energy flow.

The practice of Accupressure can relieve muscle tension, pain, circulation, and improve hormones and brain integration. Positive outcomes are experienced in mind, body and spirit.

The Liquid Crystals

The Liquid Crystals (TLC) are a natural, organic and holistic liquid remedy made in Australia from the earth’s metals, minerals and crystals. Said to be geometric vibrational remedies, they are used as change facilitators to help with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual imbalances.

I use TLC with incredibly positive results during my Kinesiology balance sessions. Small bottles of an individualised TLC remedy can be made up and purchased through me, if required.

Sound

Sounds and music have been used throughout history to improve and enhance our mental and emotional states and wellbeing.

Sounds can be used to change the vibration of the body, bringing it back into a balanced state. It can feel as relaxing as having a massage, without the need for a practitioner to physically touch the body.

The positive affects of sound are extremely obvious to me as practitioner, especially when used on children. Babies particularly, tend to have a very immediate response of becoming calm.

There are many different types of sounds techniques available. The most common sounds I use are tuning forks. They’re tuned to different meridians, organs and systems of the body.

Energetic Healing

Energetic healing is based on the premise that the human body is a complete energy system in tune with the Universe’s energies.

A gentle non-invasive holistic practice, energy healing helps to activate the body’s subtle energy system to remove blocks and imbalances. In doing this the body’s natural ability to self-heal is stimulated.

Neural Organisation Techniques (NOT)

NOT are specialised, non-invasive Kinesiology techniques, that focus on restoring balance and harmony to the central nervous system.

An evidence-based technique developed in the 1970s by Dr Carl Ferreri, it’s used by Kinesiologists, Chiropractors and Osteopaths worldwide.

Current research in the field of neuroscience continues to support NOT techniques and emphasise the role of the nervous system in holistic health.

Tapping & Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFTs)

Tapping and EFT use the body’s natural stress reduction points to reduce psychological conditions including anxiety, phobias and depression. It’s a relatively new technique and draws on alternate fields of medicine including acupuncture, neuro-linguistic programming (NLP), energy medicine and thought therapy.

Proposed in 1993 by Gary Craig, a Stanford University engineering graduate. Since childhood he has been deeply interested in personal improvement through psychology.

Brain Integration & LEAP Learning

High level performance and learning relies on integrated brain function. The brain is a multi-modular structure ‘bound’ together functionally by synchronised timing of neural activity.

The output of each brain module must be precisely ‘timed’ to prevent the harmony of mental function turning into a dysfunctional state. Performance of any mental activity can be considered a ‘symphony of thought’.

Loss of integrated brain function can occur due to stress, or because it was never properly established in the first place at birth. So loss can be situational (eg. stage fright) causing difficulty and stress performing certain functions in certain situations or circumstances. Or loss may be ongoing, as in the case of specific learning difficulties.

Neurological conditions involving brain function imbalances can affect learning, in adults and children.

Learning Enhancement Acupressure Program (LEAP) addresses brain function imbalances by re-establishing and maintaining the precise synchrony of the brain.

LEAP was developed by Dr Charles T. Kreb in collaboration with clinical psychologists, speech pathologists, neurologist and other health professionals. It’s taught at a post-graduate level in Australia and Europe, and many health practitioners around the world currently use it in their practice.

LEAP is a comprehensive approach to assess and help correct most learning challenges including dyslexia, ADD, ADHD and many difficulties with reading, spelling and mathematics.

It’s a non-invasive, individualised program that combines western and eastern ideas and techniques to resynchronise the brain neurology. It provides individual’s with access to their full potential and ability.

LEAP techniques have helped tens of thousands of individuals to overcome brain function imbalances.
